Ryobi Petrol Trimmer
Ryobi Petrol Trimmer
Why did I not buy one of these sooner? This must be one of the best buys around and it is so easy to use. Got it delivered to my work and the security guards now think I'm a bit mad...I felt like a minor celebrity the next day with the amount of people asking me if I'd managed to use it yet!
The trimmer cut through the 3 months worth of weed growth easily and I was left with an hour tidy up job. The plot once again looks like it is being used and the new "grassy" area looks the biz (to me at least). It was starting to look very neglected but I am glad it is looking good again.
The alliums I got from Ebay last year are all open, dark, mid and light purple with a couple of white ones and one green one that is supposed to be a hairy allium, just looks like it has hardly any petals so maybe the hairs appear with the seeds?
The chives have spread into substancial clumps and look good round the roses and the apple tree, now the weeds have been cleared also looks very healthy. Spot of surprize with the red currant bushes this year they are covered in berrries - thought they were not hardy enough for Aberdeen last year as I only got one string of barries and they were blown off in a gale. The black currant bushes are once again covered wit berries so more black currant jelly this year - my favourite spread for morning toast, evening toast and midnight snacks.
The new trees from Morrison's the pear and plum trees, that I was advised were duff and would not be doing anything bar dying on me - are also doing good. Some minute fruits starting on both, so quite proud they survived the winter.
Spot of bother with the strawberries, some of them have black spots on them, after an internet search still can't find it, so will have to remove the bad fruits just in case this spreads. Think it might be to do with the stranger than usual weather we are having, sunny, water logged the next and we had some sleet one day last week!
The house is now feeling like home and I have been in the garden starting to build a rockery alongside the left side of the garden. The rocks I am getting for free from the garden - I think the whole garden is full of a house that was demolished a while back and all the granite blocks and off cuts were left lying. New soil dumped on top...
There are hardly any worms but heaps of slaters and spiders and snails amongst all the stones and boulders. I found a newt in the leaf pile a month ago and moved it to the rockery out of the way of my fork but not seen it since. The frog has never appeared again so hope the cats have not eaten it also...
The seeds I plants are all up, lupins doing well and cabbage, cauliflower and sweets corn looking good. The rest have been a bit of a miss this year. Not enough time to do everything so either need to win the lottery and retire or start to specialise in just the garden or just the allotment or just the house...need to clone myself?
Buy for now and keep gardening
:-)
